He was curious, bullheaded, mercurial, generous, profoundly talented and driven. “ I ’ m not certain I believe in destiny, but I know that crossing paths with Glenn Lewis Frey in 1970 changed my life constantly, and it finally had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet. But, I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. ” Frey and Henley late became estrange and that rift kept the isthmus apart in the 1980s. Frey was born in Detroit in 1948 and moved to Los Angeles with his then girlfriend in the late 1960s and began writing songs and performing. He briefly shared an apartment with Jackson Browne, with whom he wrote many songs.
After meeting Henley in 1970, the pair formed Eagles and released their self-titled debut two years belated.
The band was wildly successful in the 1970s, selling some 100m albums in the US alone, and a foster 50m worldwide.
The 1976 turn Hotel California is possibly their best known, although the Greatest Hits album of the same year was, for a time, the best-selling album in US music history, certified platinum 29 times .. Frey had a successful solo career in the 1980s with hits including The Heat Is On, which featured on the soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy film Beverly Hills Cop, and You Belong to the City from the television usher Miami Vice. His most holocene album, After Hours, was released in 2012 .
I am broadly interested in how human activities influence the ability of wildlife to persist in the modified environments that we create.
Specifically, my research investigates how the configuration and composition of landscapes influence the movement and population dynamics of forest birds. Both natural and human-derived fragmenting of habitat can influence where birds settle, how they access the resources they need to survive and reproduce, and these factors in turn affect population demographics. Most recently, I have been studying the ability of individuals to move through and utilize forested areas which have been modified through timber harvest as they seek out resources for the breeding and postfledging phases. As well I am working in collaboration with Parks Canada scientists to examine in the influence of high density moose populations on forest bird communities in Gros Morne National Park. Many of my projects are conducted in collaboration or consultation with representatives of industry and government agencies, seeking to improve the management and sustainability of natural resource extraction.
