The Kruger National Park in northeastern South Africa is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. The Big Five – lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffaloes – as well as other wildlife, are plentiful there.
In addition to several species of birds including bald eagles, eagles and storks, hundreds of other creatures call the area home. Terrain includes mountains, scrub plains, and tropical trees.
The male lion is known as the king of the jungle and can fight almost any other wild animal. One of these top predators is enjoying fresh prey when a pack of hyenas approaches him. While hyenas are perfectly capable of hunting alone, they tend to steal food when the time comes.
In order to take what should belong to the big cat, the hyena surrounds the lion. While hyenas do let out loud howls that resemble giggles, they don’t take pleasure in doing so for anything. The hyena’s “laugh” is essentially a form of communication used to express anger, enthusiasm or fear.
These animals are surrounded by lions, and he really can’t care about them. The cat knows he can outwit the clan with ease if need be. These big cats can kill giraffes, elephants, and even bison. Lions are much stronger compared to other big cats. In terms of strength, a lion’s bite is four times stronger than a human’s. They can lift ten times the weight of ordinary people.
a little size difference
If anything, the lion just seemed annoyed by the hyena as he finally got up and walked away with his new prey. Male lions can grow up to 10 feet long with tails 2 to 3 feet long. They range from 330 to 550 in points.

The largest species of hyena is the spotted hyena, which can reach a length of 4 to 5.9 feet and a height of 2.5 to 2.6 feet from paw to shoulder. It ranges from 88 to 190 lbs. It is safe to say that there is a slight difference in size between the two animals.
One comment on the video is “These are some of my favorite videos. The hyena terrorizes the lions with a wide range of barks, growls and howls. This big boy can handle all the sounds and movements they throw at him“
Another wrote, “I just love the cacophony that hyenas make around male lions. It’s one of the craziest noises in the animal kingdom, if you ask me.”

I am broadly interested in how human activities influence the ability of wildlife to persist in the modified environments that we create.
Specifically, my research investigates how the configuration and composition of landscapes influence the movement and population dynamics of forest birds. Both natural and human-derived fragmenting of habitat can influence where birds settle, how they access the resources they need to survive and reproduce, and these factors in turn affect population demographics. Most recently, I have been studying the ability of individuals to move through and utilize forested areas which have been modified through timber harvest as they seek out resources for the breeding and postfledging phases. As well I am working in collaboration with Parks Canada scientists to examine in the influence of high density moose populations on forest bird communities in Gros Morne National Park. Many of my projects are conducted in collaboration or consultation with representatives of industry and government agencies, seeking to improve the management and sustainability of natural resource extraction.
