Tuft + Paws Cove Litter Box Made of easy to wipe clean non-stick plastic, the Cove has an open top and is recommended for cats.
The tuft + paw Cove Litter Box is an open design high quality litter box made of durable materials. It fits into tight spaces while providing plenty of room for cats up to 20 lbs.
The Tuft+Paw Cove Litter Box includes a guard that adds an extra 8 inches of height around the litter box to help prevent messes. It also comes with several accessories, including a spoon, dustpan, and brush, which can be stored in a compartment on the back of the box.
Cats can enter the litter box from either side, but if you choose the guard, there is an easy access spot in the front corner. It measures 26 L x 16 W x 14.5 H inches (with guard), 26 L x 16 W x 6.5 H (without guard).

To get a feel for how the tuft + paw Cove Litter Box works, Mallory tested it on two of her cats. When it comes to cleaning, it has everything you need in the box.
A great thing about this litter box is how easy it is to clean with the included cleaning accessories. The spoon is well made and fits into its own compartment on the back of the litter box. There is a brush and a small dustpan to help clean up any loose debris on the outside of the box. As with any open litter box, there will be some scattering and tracking.

You can choose to use a liner, but it is not required. The spoon does a good job of removing dirty litter, and it doesn’t seem to stick to the sides or bottom of the box.
When it’s time to change the litter box, it’s a simple matter of wiping the box clean. There are no nooks or cracks for trash to get in. Even the storage box can be removed for cleaning.
Our only complaint is that the dustpan doesn’t have any type of rubber, which makes it difficult to clean up the mess.
Does it control the smell well?
The tuft + paw Cove Litter Box is an open litter box design and should be cleaned regularly. Due to its open design, odors are not trapped, but the litter you use can make a big difference in odor control.
The fact that this litter box has no nooks or crannies to collect odors and bacteria helps control odor.
Does it control tracking and scattering?
The tuft + paw Cove Litter Box is not 100% track proof, and there are probably no such litter boxes. However, the Tuft and Paw Bay Litter Bin does a decent job of keeping a lot of loose debris from escaping thanks to its 8-inch guard.
There have been some reviews complaining that the opening of the shield is close to the corner, where many cats do their business. This usually results in trash being kicked out of the opening. Putting a mat in front of the litter box entrance may help collect some litter.

Overall, the tuft + paw Cove Litter Box is a great looking litter box that gets the job done. Made from recycled plastic, this litter box is eco-friendly. We love that it comes with its own cleaning accessories, and that they have their own storage compartment built into the box.
Our only issue with the tuft + paw Cove Litter Box itself is the size. It’s great for medium sized cats, but claims it can fit cats up to 20 lbs. With only a 20-inch wide litter area, it might seem a little tight for a larger cat to move around comfortably.
Our cats have no problem using the tuft + paw Cove litter box. Even with the shield, there was some loose debris around the opening of the litter box. Other than that, it does a good job of keeping the trash in the box.
How much does a tuft + paw Cove litter box cost?
On the tuft & paw website, the tuft + paw Cove Litter Box is an expensive litter box that sells for $149 without the guard and $199 with the guard. Both include accessories, but you’ll also have to pay for shipping, which is $20 if your purchase is under $195.
Are Tuft+Paw Cove Litter Bins Worth It?

If you want a litter box that is both environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing, you should consider the tuft + paw Cove litter box.
For the cost, you do get a litter box made from durable and recycled materials. This litter box also includes a spoon, dustpan, and brush to help clean up the mess.
That being said, there aren’t many open litter boxes that are easy to clean, or have no nooks and crannies where trash and germs can collect. It’s a well-made bin, and the company refuses to cut corners in the manufacturing process.
If you choose the Tuft+Paw Cove Litter Box with Guard, you get the added benefit of reducing litter outside the box. If you have a cat that likes to “walk” around corners, the entrance can sometimes cause you problems because it’s in the corner.
If you’re looking for a litter box that will help the environment, this could be the one for you. tuft & paw does participate in a carbon offset scheme, which means 100% of the emissions they generate are replaced by the trees they plant.
tuft & paw is also working with over 50 shelters across the US in an effort to reuse their litter boxes. Basically, if a shelter needs to dispose of the bins, tuft+paw will pay to ship them to another shelter that needs them.
I am broadly interested in how human activities influence the ability of wildlife to persist in the modified environments that we create.
Specifically, my research investigates how the configuration and composition of landscapes influence the movement and population dynamics of forest birds. Both natural and human-derived fragmenting of habitat can influence where birds settle, how they access the resources they need to survive and reproduce, and these factors in turn affect population demographics. Most recently, I have been studying the ability of individuals to move through and utilize forested areas which have been modified through timber harvest as they seek out resources for the breeding and postfledging phases. As well I am working in collaboration with Parks Canada scientists to examine in the influence of high density moose populations on forest bird communities in Gros Morne National Park. Many of my projects are conducted in collaboration or consultation with representatives of industry and government agencies, seeking to improve the management and sustainability of natural resource extraction.
