Known for its ability to absorb liquids, sodium bentonite quickly forms hard, tight clumps and locks in odors by absorbing moisture and trapping ammonia odors. Since it clumps, it doesn’t create a lot of dust, but it does leave marks.
A 20-pound bag of litter will last each cat for a month. However, how long a bag of litter lasts depends on the number of cats you have, their size and bowel habits, and the type of litter box you have.
While we only gave this litter a 4.2/5 rating, it’s important to remember that this rating system is based primarily on the features of competing litter products. This is clay clump litter, which means there is a lot of competition in the market today. The highlight of this product is that it is subscription-based, all-natural, dust-free, and has strong caking power.

Positive customer reviews for LitterBox All Natural Clumping Cat Litter Coconut Litter
“Great product. Works great. The product works great. The only thing that bothers me a bit is that when my Wi-Fi goes down, when it turns back on, I don’t automatically reconnect, instead I have to Unplug the device and plug it back in.” – Kilometer Racer
“Wish I got this sooner! Like my lasik, I wish I got this sooner. Loved it so much, bought a second one! Trust me, the cost was worth it in the end. Especially if you’re the only one cleaning up the trash Crate people. My kittens like to jump in during the cycle and it shuts off immediately so they don’t get hurt. Annoying, but cats are curious creatures and it gets back to normal pretty quickly.” – Debo pull B.
Negative Customer Reviews of LitterBox All Natural Clumping Cat Litter
“Subscription suspended and late shipping. My crap subscription was over 3 weeks late. I logged into my account only to see that my subscription was somehow suspended. Aren’t subscriptions supposed to save us from a mess? Just to be safe For the sake of it, I lifted the hold on it and placed an extra one-time order, and don’t expect to ship either litter for 9 days. After finally getting my cat to use the robot, they’re now refusing, and I’m going to have to Started over to make them believe it. In the meantime, I’m dealing with a mess. Thanks a lot, Whiskers!” – Al
“Probably won’t buy premium litter again. Premium litter is ok…it’s not much different from other litters…even with a deodorizing pack it doesn’t seem to help remove the odor.” – Gee

Because this litter contains no fragrances, chemicals, or other additives, it does limit its ability to control odor, especially in multi-cat households. We did find this to be a problem after two of our cats were using litter for about a week. Scooping water regularly does help with odor control, but there is definitely a slight urine smell.

I am broadly interested in how human activities influence the ability of wildlife to persist in the modified environments that we create.
Specifically, my research investigates how the configuration and composition of landscapes influence the movement and population dynamics of forest birds. Both natural and human-derived fragmenting of habitat can influence where birds settle, how they access the resources they need to survive and reproduce, and these factors in turn affect population demographics. Most recently, I have been studying the ability of individuals to move through and utilize forested areas which have been modified through timber harvest as they seek out resources for the breeding and postfledging phases. As well I am working in collaboration with Parks Canada scientists to examine in the influence of high density moose populations on forest bird communities in Gros Morne National Park. Many of my projects are conducted in collaboration or consultation with representatives of industry and government agencies, seeking to improve the management and sustainability of natural resource extraction.
