One wouldn’t think that dogs and birds can get along, but they can actually be best buds.
I have an aunt and uncle who have a cockatoo that adores their dogs…even if the pooches are a little skeptical of them.

But there is no such skepticism from one pair of pit bulls who are enamored with their avian friend in one video that is making the rounds online.
In the video below, pit bulls Shelby and Zulema are captivated by one cockatiel named Kevin.
It appears as though the pair of pooches are having their own little private concert. Kevin, is a bird with a lot to say. Or rather, with a lot of songs to sing. And that is exactly what he’s doing right in front of the door where the dogs are.
According to ViralHog, his owners said Kevin is a bird who is “passionate about dogs.”
That has led him to being quite the performative song bird for Shelby and Zulema. But it’s clear that they are thoroughly enjoying their own private concert starring Kevin.

I am broadly interested in how human activities influence the ability of wildlife to persist in the modified environments that we create.
Specifically, my research investigates how the configuration and composition of landscapes influence the movement and population dynamics of forest birds. Both natural and human-derived fragmenting of habitat can influence where birds settle, how they access the resources they need to survive and reproduce, and these factors in turn affect population demographics. Most recently, I have been studying the ability of individuals to move through and utilize forested areas which have been modified through timber harvest as they seek out resources for the breeding and postfledging phases. As well I am working in collaboration with Parks Canada scientists to examine in the influence of high density moose populations on forest bird communities in Gros Morne National Park. Many of my projects are conducted in collaboration or consultation with representatives of industry and government agencies, seeking to improve the management and sustainability of natural resource extraction.
