Both bears and tigers are scary animals. You probably won’t see them crossing paths in the wild very often, but it is possible in some areas. This video shows two huge Bengal tigers attacking a lone bear. The Bengal tiger is the second largest big cat in the world, after the giant Amur tiger. When they saw an Asiatic black bear next to their two cubs, the cats were not to be messed with, and they took action.
The bear didn’t appear to want to fight, but was soon ambushed by two large Bengal tigers. The average length of a Bengal tiger is between 6 and 10 feet. They can weigh over 600 pounds, with the largest ever found weighing around 850 pounds. The black bear is not easy to provoke, but the bear in the video is no match for the two giant cats. When approached, Asiatic black bears go to great lengths to protect themselves.
Standing on its hind legs makes the bear appear more menacing and larger in size. After being bitten and scratched by the tiger, the bear managed to defend itself and escape the large top predator.

The bear in the video is known as the Asiatic black bear, also known as Asiatic black bear, moon bear or Himalayan bear. This species is native to Asia and is distributed in areas such as Nepal, China, Pakistan and the Himalayas. The white cream crest on their markings is one of their most recognizable features, and they are covered in thick black fur. Asiatic black bears are often confused with sloth bears because they look very similar. Sloth bears have a scruffy appearance and long claws. Their noses are also slightly longer and lighter in color.
While Asiatic black bears are no match for the two large Bengal tigers, they are among the largest bears in Asia. They are between 4.5 and 5.4 feet tall. Weighing up to 400 pounds, this black bear is a fearsome animal. Despite its large size, this species is primarily vegetarian, eating foods such as grasses, fruits, nuts and roots. In some cases, they may eat dead animals, lizards, rodents and other small invertebrates.
Due to their size, moon bears don’t have many natural enemies. Tigers are one of their main enemies in the wild and this bear had a lucky escape. Other predators of Asian black bears include bobcats, wolves and leopards. The densely forested areas between sea level and 11,800 feet are home to moon bears. Asiatic black bears can become aggressive if need be, and as shown in this video, they can defend themselves from even the fiercest predators.

I am broadly interested in how human activities influence the ability of wildlife to persist in the modified environments that we create.
Specifically, my research investigates how the configuration and composition of landscapes influence the movement and population dynamics of forest birds. Both natural and human-derived fragmenting of habitat can influence where birds settle, how they access the resources they need to survive and reproduce, and these factors in turn affect population demographics. Most recently, I have been studying the ability of individuals to move through and utilize forested areas which have been modified through timber harvest as they seek out resources for the breeding and postfledging phases. As well I am working in collaboration with Parks Canada scientists to examine in the influence of high density moose populations on forest bird communities in Gros Morne National Park. Many of my projects are conducted in collaboration or consultation with representatives of industry and government agencies, seeking to improve the management and sustainability of natural resource extraction.
